Administration Advice

Retrobulbar

• Intraconal Block: < 2 mg/kg local anaesthetic solution injected inside the muscular cone. Usually performed in the sedated patient +/- ultrasound guidance (where available).

Peribulbar

• Extraconal Block: < 2 mg/kg local anaesthetic solution injected outside the muscular cone. Usually performed in the sedated patient +/- ultrasound guidance (where available).

A maximum dose of 2 mg/kg total dose is advised regardless of route.
