Dosing Options

KM

  1. Preoxygenate: Place in an oxygen chamber before sedation commences

  2. Induce: Ketamine 2.5–5 mg/kg IV + Midazolam 0.5 mg/kg IV

  3. Intubation: Subsequent use of a volatile agent (e.g. Isoflurane) with suplementary oxygen is recommended

MMK

  1. Preoxygenate: Place in an oxygen chamber before sedation commences

  2. Induce Option 1: Medetomidine 0.1 mg/kg + Midazolam 1 mg/kg + Ketamine 10 mg/kg, together IM

  3. Induce Option 2: Medetomidine 0.1 mg/kg + Midazolam 1 mg/kg  together IM with staggered/delayed Ketamine 10 mg/kg IV

  4. Intubation: Subsequent use of a volatile agent (e.g. Isoflurane) with suplementary oxygen is recommended

  5. Reversal: Atipamezole 0.25mg/kg IM (2.5 X Medetomidine dose = half Medetomidine volume)
